Thai mangosteen exports remain globally dominant, generating $502 million annually. China, the largest buyer, accounts for over 90% of exports. In 2023, exports reached 248,612 tons, up 20.8%, with strong growth in the U.S. and Vietnam. The Office of Trade Policy and Strategy emphasizes quality improvements to manage competition from countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. To diversify markets, Thailand is exploring Geographical Indication (GI) branding, promoting unique varieties like Nai Wong Ranong and Khao Khiri Wong mangosteen. New product innovations, including dried mangosteen, juice, cosmetics, and health supplements, aim to attract broader consumer interest. Expanded sales channels, including online platforms, souvenir shops, and partnerships with local businesses, support reaching wider audiences and reducing over-reliance on China.
