Bến Tre coconuts and pomelos granted trademarks in Canada

October 02, 2024 | Viet Nam News |

Bến Tre Province in Vietnam has achieved a significant milestone with its green coconuts and green-skinned pomelos receiving intellectual property protection as certified trademarks in Canada. The trademarks, "Ben Tre Coconut & Device" and "Ben Tre Pomelo & Device," were granted by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, with ownership held by the provincial Department of Science and Technology.

This recognition strengthens the brand value of Bến Tre's agricultural products on the global stage, ensuring their quality and unique characteristics are protected. The certified trademarks act as effective legal tools to prevent infringements and facilitate exports under the prestigious "Ben Tre" name.

The achievement highlights Bến Tre's commitment to upholding product standards and opens new opportunities for economic growth through increased exports. To sustain this momentum, the province is urged to invest in improving product quality, expanding markets, and strengthening marketing strategies to promote the "Ben Tre" brand further.

Bến Tre boasts nearly 20,000 hectares of green coconuts within its 79,000-hectare coconut orchards and almost 10,000 hectares of green-skinned pomelos, producing 200,000 tons annually. The recognition in Canada not only supports the province's economy but also elevates Việt Nam’s reputation for high-quality agricultural products.
