Chinese Firm Targets Cambodia for Large-Scale Durian Cultivation and Processing Hub

Zhengzhou Chen’s Sun, a leading Chinese company, plans to invest in durian cultivation and processing facilities in Cambodia. This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Cambodian PM Hun Manet and Xuemei Chen, Chairman of Zhengzhou Chen’s Sun, in November 2024. The project aims to enhance Cambodia's agricultural export capabilities, particularly in the durian market. Ms. Xuemei Chen emphasized Cambodia’s potential to lead in fruit production, especially durian, with plans for large-scale cultivation and processing to meet both domestic and international demand, particularly from China. The initiative is expected to create jobs, improve incomes, and boost the living standards of local communities. PM Hun Manet expressed strong support for the project and highlighted Cambodia's readiness to welcome foreign investment in agriculture. This collaboration is seen as a significant step towards making Cambodia a competitive global player in the agricultural sector.
