Pineapple farming transforms Yangbari

Yangbari farmers in Mongar, Bhutan, transformed pineapple farming into a sustainable livelihood, improving incomes and reducing reliance on illegal fishing. Pineapple farms expanded from 10 to 27 acres, producing 14 MT this year, with 51 farmers earning Nu 620,000. Challenges include wildlife damage, despite chain-link fences and guard huts. Bhutan Agro Industries Limited (BAIL) ensures market stability, provides organic certifications, and trains farmers to meet international standards, fostering economic and environmental progress.
