Brazil’s papaya exports remained stable in November 2024, with 4,000 tons shipped and revenue exceeding $5 million FOB. However, the annual data paints a brighter picture, showcasing significant growth in export volume and revenue. From January to November 2024, Brazil exported 39,000 tons of papaya, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Revenue grew by 9%, reaching over $52 million FOB, the highest recorded since Comex Stat began tracking in 1997.
This robust performance reflects the increasing demand for Brazilian papayas in international markets, reinforcing the country’s position as a major global exporter. Expectations for December remain optimistic, potentially setting a new record for annual export revenues in the sector.
The growth is not only a testament to the quality and reliability of Brazilian papaya production but also highlights the resilience of exporters in maintaining consistent supplies despite market challenges. For producers, this signals a promising future, encouraging further investment in meeting international demand.
With strong results in both volume and revenue, 2024 stands out as a landmark year for Brazilian papaya exports, emphasizing their growing significance in the global market for tropical fruits.
