Papaya prices rose in Brazil's main producing regions due to reduced crop volumes and strategic discarding by producers. In Bahia, the Formosa variety saw a 149% price increase, reaching R$1.29 per kilogram, while Espírito Santo saw a 138% increase, with prices at R$1.24. Discards are expected to reduce the harvested volume in November, potentially driving prices higher. In Minas Gerais, despite no discarding, prices rose by 49% to R$1.13 per kilogram, as the region moved past peak production. Meanwhile, Havaí variety prices remained lower, with a modest increase to R$0.50 per kilogram, as supply remained high in both Bahia and Espírito Santo.
