ICAR-CCARI, Goa University, IHFC, and Parachute Kalpavriksha Foundation have signed an MoU to develop an unmanned coconut harvesting device. The technology aims to improve safety and efficiency in coconut farming by reducing manual labor and eliminating the risks of tree climbing. The device features a robotic arm and precision camera system, operated remotely to identify and harvest coconuts. This innovation addresses labor shortages and rising coconut costs. ICAR-CCARI and Goa University are leading its development and field testing, ensuring it meets farmers’ needs. The collaboration underscores the importance of research-industry partnerships, advancing agricultural innovation and benefiting farmers.
