Mango farmers of Chittoor district told to apply for crop insurance

December 17, 2024 | The Hindu |

Chittoor district Deputy Director of Horticulture, D. Madhusudan Reddy, urged mango farmers to adopt the State’s climate-based crop insurance scheme. The program requires farmers to pay a premium of ₹1,750 per acre for coverage against potential losses due to unusual weather conditions between December 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. Insurance payouts of up to ₹35,000 per acre are available.

Farmers must register their mango crops to apply for insurance, including those who harvested during the last or current Rabi season. Registration can be completed by paying the premium and submitting the application. Registered farmers should also promptly notify RBK in-charges to ensure their insurance claims are processed without delay.

This initiative aims to provide financial protection and stability to mango growers facing climate risks.
