Malaysian Embassy in Tehran Hosts Durian Reception Promoting Musang King

The Malaysian embassy in Tehran hosted a durian reception on Dec 22 to celebrate the cultural significance and economic value of the fruit, with a focus on the iconic Musang King variety. Ambassador Khairi Omar highlighted the Musang King’s premium quality, unique flavor, and its role as a symbol of Malaysia's agricultural excellence and hospitality. The event showcased the fruit’s versatility in cuisine, with dishes like ice cream, cakes, and curries made from Musang King. The fruit, known as the "King of Fruits," is praised for its creamy texture and mild aroma, making it popular worldwide. Malaysia dedicates over 73,000 hectares to durian farming, with Musang King accounting for 36% of production. In 2022, Malaysia exported RM1.14 billion worth of durians, with China being a major market. In 2024, Malaysia began exporting fresh durians to China, marking a new milestone in trade relations. The reception emphasized Malaysia's leadership in durian cultivation and strengthened global ties while promoting the fruit's culinary and cultural appeal.
