China’s first durian processing plant, owned by Hainan Youqi Agricultural Company, is nearing completion in Sanya, Hainan. Spanning 4 hectares in the Yucai Modern Agricultural Industry Park, the facility features zones for fresh durian sorting, processing, dried fruit production, and cold storage. Equipment installation is underway, with business operations set to begin in June 2025, coinciding with Hainan's durian harvest peak.
The company manages 800 hectares of durian cultivation with 210,000 trees, making it Hainan's largest producer. The plant will initially focus on producing durian-based products like mooncakes, ice cream, dumplings, and frozen pulp for nationwide distribution. Livestreaming studios and advanced equipment aim to boost sales and efficiency.
The facility strengthens the durian industry’s supply and value chains, with plans for further infrastructure expansion to support future growth.
