Telangana plans to cultivate Alphonso mangoes and avocados, leveraging its favorable climate to promote fruit farming. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the need for scientific farming methods, including greenhouses, polyhouses, drip irrigation, and sprinklers.
The state government and NABARD will support farmers by providing loans, strengthening farmers’ producer organizations, and developing rural infrastructure. Forest lands granted to farmers under the Forest Rights Act will be used for palm oil, avocado, and bamboo cultivation, aiding both agriculture and forest conservation.
Bhatti Vikramarka stressed reducing edible oil imports by expanding palm oil cultivation in Telangana, inspired by Malaysia’s success. He highlighted Israel’s advanced farming techniques as a model for Telangana’s agricultural growth.
NABARD is urged to invest in cold storage facilities, international-standard farmer training, and digital banking to boost Telangana’s agriculture. With the state's strong production of mangoes, turmeric, chilies, and millets, modernizing agricultural practices will enhance exports and improve farmer livelihoods.
