Taiwan turns agricultural waste into livestock feed

Taiwan's Livestock Research Institute has successfully integrated pineapple, lemon, and orange peels into cattle feed as part of its circular agriculture initiative. This approach reduces waste, lowers feed costs by nearly 20%, and promotes sustainability. Farmers in Chiayi are already using these methods. The institute continues to explore using high-moisture fruit residues, like dragon fruit skins, while addressing cost and moisture challenges. Taiwan’s efforts highlight the potential of agricultural by-products to support livestock nutrition and ecological balance.
