Thailand’s Office of Agricultural Economics forecasts strong increases in the production of key fruits in 2025, driven by favorable weather, maturing orchards, and improved cultivation practices. Durian production is projected to reach 1.68 million tons (+30.72%), with significant expansions in productive areas and yield per rai, especially in provinces like Chanthaburi, Rayong, and Trat, where farmers have shifted from rubber to durian.
Longan output is expected to rise by 10.81% due to recent plantings and weather conditions that supported flowering. Mangosteen yield will jump 35.14%, despite a slight decrease in cultivated area, as trees recover from a low-producing year. Rambutan and longkong are also set to increase by 13.53% and 11.04% respectively, even as areas shrink due to crop replacement by durian.
Lychee will see the largest growth in yield per rai (+175.6%) due to extended cool weather, despite a 5.11% drop in cultivation area.
The Ministry of Agriculture is implementing a dual strategy: enhancing fruit quality through GAP and GI certification, and balancing production with market demand. This is part of the broader 2022–2027 Fruit Development Plan to stabilize prices, boost exports, and raise Thailand’s global fruit competitiveness.
