Hai Duong province is preparing for the 2025 lychee season with a conference in Thanh Ha commune to connect producers and exporters. Attended by five businesses, 48 growing region representatives, and eight export packaging facilities, the event focused on market trends and international import standards from the US, Japan, China, and the EU.
The Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection emphasized compliance with safety and export protocols, especially for lychee growing areas designated for export. Farmers must use approved pesticides and observe a 35–40-day quarantine before harvest. Digital traceability and improved packaging tailored to market preferences were also discussed.
Exporters were encouraged to sign early contracts with production groups and reduce logistics costs to boost competitiveness. Hai Duong currently has 8,800 hectares of lychee (3,285 in Thanh Ha and 3,400 in Chi Linh), with 721 hectares certified by VietGAP and GlobalGAP, and 198 growing area codes plus 16 certified packing facilities.
The province forecasts a productive lychee season with an estimated 55,000 tons of output—38,000 tons from Thanh Ha alone. Harvest begins May 17 with early varieties and continues through June with the main crop. The efforts aim to enhance quality, traceability, and international market access for Hai Duong lychees.
