Taiwan sees growth in chilled fruit and pork exports in 2024
In 2023, Taiwan’s agricultural exports reached NT$157.44 billion (US$4.92 billion), with chilled fruit exports up 30% and fresh pork exports rising sixfold. Key milestones included pineapple access to New Zealand with zero tariffs, record exports to Japan, and first-time lychee and dragon fruit shipments to New Zealand and Japan, respectively. Pork exports resumed to Singapore after 15 years, and Taiwan exported 408 tons to the Philippines. The ministry credits success to strong food safety and quarantine systems. Taiwan is expected to be recognized as free of three major swine diseases, boosting global competitiveness. The government plans NT$18 billion in investments to expand agricultural export markets and mitigate U.S. tariff impacts.
