Lychee has appeared in Bangladeshi markets with high prices due to limited supply, weather damage, and reduced demand amid COVID-19. Despite challenges, production is expected to rise to 232,600 tons this year from 224,000 tons last year. Farmers are benefiting from cultivating high-yielding varieties like China-3, Bombay, and Madrazi on both commercial and homestead lands. While Ishwardi lychees are particularly prized for taste, major production hubs include Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Jessore, Rangpur, and other regions. Traders expect prices to drop as supply increases in the coming days.
