Vietnam’s lychee exports surged in June 2025, reaching US$35 million—over three times higher than last year—driven by strong demand from China and other high-standard markets. China accounted for US$27 million, while exports to France, Australia, the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. rose two- to fivefold. In the first half of 2025, total lychee exports reached US$45.4 million, up 92% year-on-year, with shipments to the top 10 markets increasing by 10–2,000%.
Industry experts credit the growth to affordable prices, improved quality, and wider adoption of VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, which ensure compliance with export markets like the U.S., Japan, and the U.K. Modern harvesting and preservation techniques have extended shelf life, while partnerships between businesses and farmers have strengthened productivity and quality.
Farm-gate prices range from VND8,000–20,000 per kilogram, with export-certified lychees fetching VND25,000–30,000, compared to retail prices abroad of VND200,000–300,000.
This year’s harvest is projected at 250,000 tons, a 25% increase from 2024. Bac Giang remains the “lychee capital,” producing 165,000 tons, while Hai Duong continues to build its reputation with Thanh Ha lychees. Northern provinces dominate production, while southern regions face climate challenges in cultivation.
