Tainan mayor sells guavas in Amsterdam
December 06, 2025 | Taiwan News |
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che has officially launched Taiwanese guava exports to Europe, marking the fruit’s first sale in Amsterdam. The launch followed the EU’s June decision to open its market to Taiwanese mangos and guavas. During the event, Huang offered guava samples to supermarket shoppers, attracting both local consumers and Taiwanese residents who traveled long distances for the taste of home.
The mayor is touring Europe to promote Tainan’s agricultural products and outlined a seasonal export plan: pineapples in spring, mangos in summer, guavas in winter, and pomelos targeted for autumn. Taiwan’s envoy to the Netherlands, Tien Chung-kwang, said the arrival of Taiwanese guavas symbolized the broadening of Taiwan’s exports, spanning from high-tech industries to fresh agricultural produce.
