Mango exporters overwhelmingly back National Mango Board with highest approval rate in 20 years

The US mango industry has overwhelmingly reaffirmed its support for the National Mango Board (NMB), with 94% of exporters voting to continue the USDA’s Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order. This marks the highest approval rate in 20 years and reflects strong confidence in the NMB’s role in growing mango demand and supporting the supply chain.
NMB executive director Ramon Ojeda attributed the support to expanded outreach efforts, noting that many industry members were previously unaware of available resources. The US mango sector has seen strong growth, driven by rising consumer interest in tropical fruits and effective promotion.
Looking ahead to 2026, the NMB plans to focus on highlighting mango health benefits, strengthening marketing around key consumption periods, and improving in-store visibility through new retail display tools. Ensuring year-round availability and consistent fruit quality remains a top priority, as consumer repeat purchases depend heavily on eating experience.
While the NMB does not set quality standards, it works closely with supply chain partners to promote best practices. Education, point-of-sale presence, and quality consistency are central to sustaining long-term consumer demand.
