Moroccan hass avocado season recovers after early market tensions

December 10, 2025 | Morocco World News|

Morocco’s Hass avocado season began with tensions as limited early volumes and expectations of high prices met strong pressure from European buyers to push prices down. This pressure was intensified by heavy avocado supplies from Latin America, which temporarily saturated the European market. As a result, many Moroccan producers delayed harvesting, leading to a slow start that did not reflect the sector’s full production potential.

Since early December, however, market conditions have improved. Farm-gate prices have risen by more than 15% within two weeks, encouraging producers to resume harvesting as sales conditions become more attractive. Domestic demand has also become a key driver, with Moroccan traders building stocks ahead of Ramadan, boosting market momentum and raising the possibility of an earlier-than-usual end to the season.

In addition, fruit quality has been reported as very good, with favorable sizes and overall standards. This has strengthened producers’ confidence in maintaining prices that reflect the value of their avocados. Despite a difficult start, Morocco’s Hass avocado campaign is now stabilizing and could conclude on a more positive note if current demand trends continue.
