Mexican avocado imports to the United States are projected to reach a record 2.5 billion pounds in the 2025–2026 season, according to Avocados From Mexico. The forecast reflects strong year-round availability, consistent quality, and ample promotable volumes across preferred sizes. Mexico remains the only country capable of supplying the U.S. market at commercial scale throughout the year, supported by favorable growing conditions, established expertise, and ongoing investment in best practices.
The supply outlook includes about 280 million pounds available for the Big Game period, with sufficient volume to support other peak demand windows such as Cinco de Mayo and the summer season. Promotional programs are designed to sustain demand over extended periods rather than focusing solely on single events.
Avocados From Mexico emphasized that the record projection represents confidence not only in volume, but also in quality, size availability, and coordinated retail support. The Mexican avocado sector involves around 35,000 growers, many of them small family farmers, along with over 200 importers and 90 packers. The industry supports more than 42,000 U.S. jobs and contributed an estimated $7.5 billion to the U.S. economy in 2024, reinforcing Mexico’s central role in the U.S. avocado market.
