Taitung pineapple custard apple sales grow in Singapore
February 02, 2026 | Taiwan News |
Taitung’s pineapple custard apple (Atemoya) has gained a foothold in Singapore, selling over 16,000 kilograms after three years of market development. The Taitung County Government began cultivating the market in 2024 and expanded efforts in 2025 by ensuring stable supply and partnering with major retailers, which improved consumer recognition and repeat purchases.
The fruit first entered Singapore through DFI Group supermarkets in 2024, selling about 6,880 kilograms. In 2025, distribution widened to NTUC FairPrice, lifting annual sales to roughly 9,170 kilograms. Different retail strategies were used: FairPrice sold single fruits for daily household consumption, while DFI targeted premium customers with gift boxes at Cold Storage outlets.
To build consumer awareness, the county government organized more than 100 tasting and promotional events at FairPrice and DFI stores between January and February. These activities introduced shoppers to the fruit’s origin and flavor, significantly boosting interest and purchase rates.
