The Philippines earned about $1.72 million (₱101.62 million) in export sales from its participation in FABEX Kansai 2025, a major food and beverage trade show in Japan, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The figure includes confirmed orders and potential long-term supply deals with Japanese food and wellness retailers.
The event, organized by PTIC-Osaka and the DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau, brought together 25 Philippine exporters showcasing coconut-based products such as plant-based drinks, natural sweeteners, specialty oils, and ingredients aligned with Japan’s growing demand for plant-based and health-focused foods. FABEX Kansai featured around 600 exhibitors and attracted over 30,000 visitors.
Officials said the strong sales reflect Japan’s confidence in Philippine coconut products and the readiness of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to serve global markets. The participation supports government efforts to strengthen export resilience, raise agricultural value, and expand MSME access to international trade.
The initiative aligns with the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) 2024–2028, which aims to boost coconut exports and support farmers and MSMEs. Industry estimates suggest coconut export revenues could rise by up to 15 percent, reaching $3 billion.
