Desiccated coconuts: processing costs are rising

The Philippine desiccated coconut market is experiencing mixed price trends, creating short-term advantages for processors. While export prices remain stable, domestic prices in Manila have declined, allowing processors to benefit from improved margins as raw material costs have eased since late 2025.
Copra prices have stabilized below previous peak levels, with only minor fluctuations, while coconut oil prices remain high both domestically and internationally. Despite this, trading activity is subdued as buyers adopt a cautious approach.
At the same time, rising energy, transport, and container costs are increasing operational risks. Although processors currently gain from lower input costs, these rising expenses and uncertain logistics conditions may affect profitability in the near term.
