Philippines to prioritise coconut industry as exports expected to hit US$3 billion in 2026

The Philippine government is prioritizing the development of its coconut industry, aiming to generate up to US$3 billion in export revenues by 2026. Recognized as a key part of the national agricultural agenda, efforts focus on boosting production and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
The president has approved priority legislation, including amendments to the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund Act, to support the sector. The Philippines, the world’s second-largest coconut producer, recorded strong export growth, reaching US$2.66 billion in 2024, driven mainly by coconut oil.
Continued development is expected to enhance farmer incomes and strengthen the country’s global competitiveness in coconut products.
