Durian prices in Vietnam have dropped sharply due to oversupply and increased competition from Thailand, which has boosted exports to China during its harvest season. Prices for key varieties have fallen by 25–40%, forcing farmers to sell domestically, often below expected prices.
The surge in supply, both locally and from Thailand, has intensified price pressure. Additionally, Thailand’s improved quality standards have strengthened its competitiveness in the Chinese market. With stricter import requirements from China expected soon, Vietnamese exporters are urged to enhance quality control to remain competitive.
