India to ease import requirements for Vietnamese durian

May 18, 2026 | vnExpress |

India is preparing to ease import requirements for fresh Vietnamese durian by removing special phytosanitary conditions and additional declarations. If implemented, the change would simplify export procedures and improve Vietnam’s access to one of Asia’s largest consumer markets.

The proposal is currently under public consultation until July 3, so exporters are advised to monitor developments before making major commitments. The move is considered a positive signal for Vietnam’s durian industry and could support future export growth.

Vietnam’s durian exports have already shown strong momentum, with exports rising sharply in early 2026 as the country continues expanding markets and strengthening product branding.
