The first two air shipments of fresh Vietnamese lychee, totaling about two tonnes, arrived in Houston, Texas, in early June, marking a further expansion of Vietnam’s fruit exports to the United States. Importers reported that the fruit maintained its freshness, appearance, and flavor throughout transport and received positive feedback from both distributors and consumers.
Vietnamese lychees are now being sold through Asian supermarket chains and local markets in Houston and other US states. According to C&T Produce Wholesale Inc., a US importer and distributor, strong demand was evident, with many customers placing orders before the shipments arrived.
Industry representatives noted that Vietnamese fruits are highly valued among Asian American consumers for their quality, diversity, and distinctive taste. This consumer base has become an important market for Vietnam’s fresh fruit exports.
The successful shipments were supported by trade promotion efforts from the Vietnam Trade Office and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, which have facilitated business connections, promotional activities, and market access initiatives. Importers also highlighted the growing role of the Vietnamese business community in the US in helping expand distribution channels and create new opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural exports.
