Premium durians from Davao have entered the Omani market through a trial shipment aimed at expanding export opportunities beyond China. The shipment, organized by Engseng Food Products, consisted of 56 boxes of fresh Puyat and Duyaya durians from Belviz Farm in Calinan. Valued at approximately US$3,000, the consignment was shipped to an importer in Oman following six years of export coordination.

The Department of Agriculture in the Davao Region views the shipment as an opportunity to diversify markets for Philippine durian and create additional income opportunities for local growers and exporters. It complements the region’s growing exports to China, which began in 2023 with an initial shipment of 18 metric tonnes and included varieties such as Puyat, D-101, Cob, and Duyaya.

The Oman trial is intended to establish regular orders and strengthen the international profile of Philippine durian. Agricultural authorities encouraged farmers, including smallholders, to maintain high fruit quality and comply with market requirements to support continued access to overseas markets and create further export opportunities.
