As of October 2023, Cambodia has exported 11,403 tonnes of fresh longan to China, marking a significant increase in the export of this fruit. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) highlighted that 97 plantations and exporting firms are registered, with 12 of them meeting the required sanitary and phytosanitary standards. The MAFF is actively supporting farmers by focusing on strengthening Pailin longan cultivation to meet market quality standards. Additionally, efforts are being made to promote domestic processing of longan for both local consumption and export. Cambodia's longan exports to China started gaining momentum, with the fruit being the third, after banana and mango, to achieve official access to the Chinese market.
