Việt Nam prepares conditions to export fresh coconut, frozen durian to China

Before April 1, local authorities and relevant agencies in Vietnam must compile a list of growing areas and packaging facilities for fresh coconut and frozen durian exports to China. This step aims to facilitate Vietnam's access to the Chinese market for these products. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasizes the need for preparedness to meet plant quarantine and food safety requirements. Notably, Vietnamese fresh durian exports to China began in July 2022, reaching a record turnover of about $2.3 billion in 2023. With the potential approval of frozen durian exports, Vietnam's durian export turnover is expected to increase by 30% annually, according to Đặng Phúc Nguyên, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association. Overall, the official export of fresh coconuts and frozen durians to China is anticipated to significantly boost Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports in 2024.
