Fresh durian exports to China won’t spike prices in Malaysia, assures Fama chief

Exporting fresh durians to China, starting in September, won't affect local prices significantly as only specific varieties like ‘Musang King’ and ‘Black Thorn’ will be exported. Local markets will still have affordable options like ‘durian kampung’. The long durian season ensures ample supply until September. The first exports will use air or sea routes, delivering up to 20 tonnes by sea or 5,000 fruits by air. Around 70 packing centers and over 200 durian farms are being audited for export compliance. Madani Agro Sales achieved RM77.1 million in sales and RM23.1 million in customer savings by June 30.
