Malaysia expected to export fresh durian to China by October this year, says deputy minister

Malaysia will start exporting fresh durian to China by October, following the signing of 14 MoUs. Previously, only frozen durians were exported. The export timeline depends on passing China's biosafety tests and approval from the General Administration of Customs of China. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, emphasized the need for local durian producers to maintain high-quality standards and ensure sufficient supply for the domestic market. Last year, Malaysia exported RM2 billion worth of fruits, with 56% being durians. The MoUs with China will enhance cooperation and share best practices between the two countries.
