Climate change continues to significantly impact agriculture, prompting the Ministry of Agriculture to strengthen collaborations across sectors. Recently, the Ministry signed an agreement with the College of Bioresources and Agriculture at National Taiwan University and the Kaohsiung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, with another signing with the Tainan District planned for August 16. These partnerships aim to advance net-zero carbon agriculture.
On August 15, the Agricultural Research Institute also signed an agreement with the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction to focus on tropical agriculture adaptation, climate resilience, and sustainable production. The collaboration deepens cross-disciplinary research and resource sharing to enhance agricultural resilience and sustainability. The "2024 National Climate Change Science Report" emphasizes the importance of inter-agency cooperation, especially in climate data integration and agricultural risk assessment.
Future efforts will focus on risk gap identification, scenario-based climate adaptation strategies, and developing disaster response models, ensuring that Taiwan's agriculture remains resilient and food security is maintained despite climate challenges.
