Nordic SeaFarm, a sustainable seaweed cultivation company based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has secured 25M SEK (€2.1M) from lead investors InnoEnergy and Inter IKEA. This investment will enhance the company’s research and development capabilities and scale up ocean cultivation in Europe to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions.

Seaweed, a versatile and sustainable resource, is used across industries such as materials, food, and ocean restoration. Nordic SeaFarm, led by CEO Simon Hilmersson, aims to make seaweed widely available through large-scale ocean farming. The support from InnoEnergy and Inter IKEA validates their mission and provides essential resources for growth and innovation.

InnoEnergy, a key player in the energy transition, sees significant potential in Nordic SeaFarm’s ability to address environmental challenges and collaborate with offshore wind players. Inter IKEA is equally supportive, emphasizing the alignment of Nordic SeaFarm’s sustainability goals with their focus on innovation and renewable materials.
