Taiwan strengthens agricultural resilience through early warning and water management
Sources of information

Taiwan is strengthening agricultural resilience in response to increasing climate extremes, with Agriculture Minister Chen Junne-jih highlighting efforts in disaster early warning, water management, climate-resilient crops and agricultural insurance. Taiwan now operates 246 agricultural weather stations, while the integrated Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan irrigation system is expected to add around 70 million metric tons of usable water annually and reduce irrigation suspension risks across 74,500 hectares of farmland. The government will also expand protected cultivation, ecosystem conservation and forest fire monitoring to further strengthen climate adaptation.
