Green Climate Fund approves $52.5 million to restore Fiji’s forest landscapes
Sources of informationThe Green Climate Fund (GCF) has approved USD 52.5 million for a seven-year FAO-supported initiative to restore Fiji’s forest and agricultural landscapes. Using a “ridge-to-reef” approach, the project connects forests, farmland, rivers and coastal ecosystems while promoting agroforestry to strengthen climate resilience and rural livelihoods. More than 80,000 hectares of forest and agricultural land will benefit from restoration or improved management, alongside protection of over 90,000 hectares of coastal ecosystems. The initiative highlights how climate finance can integrate agriculture, forest restoration, conservation and food security.
