Climate and Soil Input Data Aggregation Effects in Crop Models

Open Data Journal for Agricultural Research| Source | DataGuide |

The Open Data Journal for Agriculture Research (ODJAR) serves as a pivotal repository for diverse agricultural research datasets with global implications. These datasets, generated through extensive investigations into global food security across varying spatial scales, hold intrinsic value beyond their original research context. They contribute to published results in scientific journals and conferences, forming a long-term resource for future research. ODJAR, with its commitment to Open Access, Linked Open Data, and government data portals, addresses the challenge of data loss after research funding concludes. By facilitating data sharing, ODjAR promotes innovation, job creation, and improved services, aligning with the growing emphasis on open science and the public benefit of research funded by taxpayers. The initiative receives support from Wageningen University and Research Centre Library.

This dataset encompasses interpolated and aggregated soil and climate data for the North Rhine-Westphalia region in Germany. The data is available at resolutions of 1, 10, 25, 50, and 100 km grids, derived from spatial aggregations of approximately 1 km resolution for climate and 300 m resolution for soil data. Specifically tailored for input in crop models, the dataset includes key soil and climate variables crucial for running these models. Its design enables the analysis of scale and resolution effects in crop models, making it valuable for diverse studies exploring different scaling approaches, crops, model output variables, production situations, and crop management scenarios.
