February 12, 2024 | USDA |
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) unveiled the Working Lands Climate Corps, a component of President Biden's American Climate Corps initiative, aimed at training young individuals as conservation and climate leaders. This initiative, in collaboration with AmeriCorps, The Corps Network, and the National Association of Conservation Districts, seeks to provide technical training and career pathways in climate-smart agriculture. The program's inaugural cohort aims to engage over 100 young participants, offering them opportunities to contribute to climate resilience in rural communities while fostering career development in the agriculture sector. The initiative underscores the administration's commitment to addressing climate change and promoting equitable access to sustainable employment opportunities. Applications for host organizations are open until March 8, 2024, with a focus on projects promoting conservation, resilience planning, and environmental justice.
